The Netherlands is one of the leading countries in sensor technology. It is an industry that is developing enormously. Sensor systems become smaller, faster and more accurate and they are used in an increasing variety of products. They can for example be used in autonomic devices such as machines, tools and consumer products and for the recording of human movements.
The start-up JimFIT has developed a wireless, portable and mobile sensor system that can measure movements. The entire system includes a sensor system and an app. With support of the app data can be translated into relevant information for the user. Furthermore, the app will also give feedback to the user. The sensor system of JimFIT can be used in the sport sector and focuses on the consumer market.
NNTS is developing a prototype that is ready for mass production. The hardware and back-end software will also be developed.

Due to increasing objectives of reducing CO2 emission and gas consumption, municipalities are looking for possible sustainable energy sources. The municipality of Enschede is also exploring its options.
The municipality of Enschede wants to investigate the use of geothermal energy as its durability is beyond dispute. Before starting costly drilling activities and the technical elaboration, NNTS will start with a feasibility study that includes the technical and financial aspects.
The goal is to deliver a consultancy report that is based on the potentials of geothermic heat and the possible consumption profile. Technical aspects, financial effects and possible risks of deep geothermal energy in Enschede are taken into account and will be discussed in different scenarios.

Description
The biggest bean sprouts plantation of Europe, Evers Specials, asked NNTS to design a new packaging method in the production of bean sprouts. Evers Specials has a completely automated production line, which makes it a challenge to fit the new packaging into the current production and packaging process.
Due to the high number of packages the cost of the packaging needs to be taken into account, as a marginal increase in base price means a significant increase in costs.
Because of these challenges, the design will be focused on a simple but effective new packaging for bean sprouts.
