The municipality of Rotterdam started in 2012 with energy that is created by wastewater from sewage. An example is reusing warm water of the shower that came into the sewage. In this way sustainable energy sources are being created.

The municipality of Rotterdam started a pilot project where wastewater from sewage is used to heat a parking place of a building. The municipality asked NNTS to analyze and structure data that they assembled with their pilot project. After finishing the analysis phase, NNTS will draw conclusions and make recommendations for Rotterdam. The conclusions and recommendations will help the municipality in the development of using wastewater from sewage as a sustainable energy source.
